Rising in Harmony @ Many Studios
We had a wonderful time delivering ‘Rising in Harmony’, in solidarity with Palestine, as part of Refugee Festival Scotland!
The day was filled with sharing and learning about migrant experiences, printmaking, music, seed sowing, and delicious Palestinian food provided by Hiba’s Kitchen. A massive thankyou to our tutors, Nkem and Lisa for their creative contributions, and to Anna of Agnew Lane for the excellent gardening activities. Catch a glimpse of the day by listening back to our Clyde Built Radio show, featuring mini-interviews with event guests plus a mix of Palestinian sounds. It was a beautiful day celebrating culture, creativity, and community! |
Nico Ndlovu on Radio Buena Vida
Last month on Radio Buena Vida, we were thrilled to host a special guest episode feat. Nico Ndlovu, a stand-up comedian, event host, podcaster and Scottish Ambassador for Refugee Week UK. Nico joined us for an engaging conversation about community, music, and comedy.
Nico is the founder and host of the 'Siyakhuluma We Talk’ Podcast, which provides a safe platform for people with lived experiences of displacement, allowing their voices to be heard and their stories to raise awareness about the treatment of people within these systems.

Soundplay Projects x The Sound Lab x Abercorn School
In June we concluded a fantastic series of workshops in collaboration with Soundplay Projects and Abercorn School. Over three weeks we engaged ten young people in exploring music and interactive play. These sessions provided opportunities for the participants to delve into beatmaking, keyboard, guitar, singing, and DJing. Our talented tutors seamlessly integrated their instruments with Soundplay’s interactive gear, creating a unique and engaging experience for everyone involved.
The workshops were thoroughly enjoyed by all participants, and it was heartening to witness the young people exercising their creativity and expressing themselves in a supportive and safe environment. They had the chance to take control of their creative journey, engaging with the activities in their own unique ways. Thank you to the Scottish Youth Music Exchange for providing the funding for this innovative and fulfilling partnership.
