What we do
Based in and around Glasgow since 2003, The Sound Lab are a grassroots, volunteer-run charity providing creative opportunity to loads of communities across Glasgow and beyond.

We believe that ‘music matters’ and that music and creativity shouldn’t just be available for those who can readily access it and afford it: it should be available to everyone. Our vision is that, irrespective of age, gender, race, ethnicity or economic background, everyone should be able to access the resources and support they need to fulfil their creative potential.

We are a proudly small organisation; made up of a dedicated team of volunteers and expert tutors who, together, bring free music and creativity to hundreds of people every year.

Our projects cover anything creative - singing, songwriting, electronic music production, drums, guitar, keyboard, samba drumming, DJ skills, MC skills, song writing, film-making, photography, graffiti art and editing, audio recording, live performance, production and recording. Anything creative, you can find it here! Contact us at thesoundlab@live.co.uk to find out more.

History
The Sound Lab was an idea born out of memory of an inspirational young man, Kevin, from Tollcross, with our main focus being to provide a creative outlet and fun environment for young people around the East End of the city. Some of our alumni have gone on to form their own bands, even achieving success in Scotland and further afield, proving that there is talent everywhere in Scotland. Contact us if you'd like to find out more.

Our Values
The Sound Lab is a proudly anti-racist organisation.
Our anti-racist approach includes structural aspects such as the diversity of our staff team, to more daily experiences such as being cognisant of work to decolonise curriculum.
We are committed to providing a caring, supportive and friendly environment where young people learn to value and respect each other.

The Sound Lab stands for inclusion.

We believe that music matters, and that access to creativity and music are not just for the selected few. Our programmes are open to everyone, and we operate a zero tolerance discrimination policy.
