Meet our keys and interactive music magician Keith, Sound Lab OG, who has been with us for nearly a decade dating back to our days at Tollcross YMCA!🤯!
Keith provides keyboard tuition to a diverse range of students, including those with additional support needs. Keith isn't just a virtuoso on the keys; he brings a wealth of experience to our interactive and electronic music workshops tailored for individuals with profound communication and learning impairments. As the driving force behind our monthly interactive music discos in collaboration with PAMIS, he has empowered numerous young people with disabilities to have fun and enjoy music.
At the Sound Lab, we are committed to breaking down barriers to accessing music and creativity. That's why we offer free music tuition to young people with disabilities and/or additional support needs, those who are care-experienced as well as young asylum seekers and refugees. Our goal is to provide access to the transformative power of music for all, regardless of background or ability. If you know a young person who you think we could support, please email us at [email protected]

Getting Creative at Concrete Garden
Throughout March, our guitar and voice tutor Deni Smith has had a blast delivering guitar and ukulele tuition to the afterschool group at Outdoor Play (Concrete Garden), who have been “brilliant and full of energy”. Together, the young people wrote a short song titled “I am the weatherman”, that they have been playing the ukulele along to.
Our drum and electronic music tutor Laurie Pitt has also been along to the garden in Possilpark to support young people to do some field recording; think squelching in the mud and using bins as drums! These sounds, along with some fun interview questions about the children’s experiences in the garden will make for an exciting radio show that will be broadcast on Radio Buena Vida once completed!
