Turning Up the Volume for our Amplify Programme
Via our Amplify programme we offer 1:1 tuition and music workshops to children and young people who experience barriers when it comes to exploring their creative potential. Our new team have been busy over the last month getting our new projects up and running.
To kick off our group workshops, we linked up with Youth Just Us to provide free MCing and DJ lessons to care and justice experienced young people who campaign for change. The first of two workshops took place earlier this week with the one and only Steg G. The next session will be on the 18th March, 6-8pm at the Staf Participation space on Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow.
This month, our tutor Paul Njie also delivered the first of 6 DJ workshops at a residential children’s home, which went down a treat, while our tutor Laurie Pitt ran a drop-in DJ taster session at STAF’s Partycipation Network Event.
Keep your eyes peeled over the coming weeks for upcoming workshops and tuition. If you support a young person who is interested in exploring their creative potential, get in touch via the Musicares sign-up form. Exciting times!

Things are really starting to take shape in our new space; by the end of next week, we’ll have run a number of 1:1 lesson in drumming, guitar, piano and electronica. As a reminder, we can also support young people with the cost of travel when it comes to getting to us here at The Pentagon Centre!
We offer free music tuition to care experienced children and young people, young asylum seekers and refugees, and children with disabilities and/or additional support needs. If you know a young person who you think we could support, please email us at [email protected]

Radio Shows
Last month on Radio Buena Vida, we showcased the incredibly talented Rikki Soroczynski a songwriter and guitarist from the Highlands who has adopted Glasgow as his second home. In his set Rikki pays homage to one of Scotland’s greatest songwriters, John Martyn, before sharing a selection of his own original songs, some of which are due for to feature on his debut album, due out later this year. His songs explore themes of love, life and social commentary in a rootsy fusion of folk, blues and soul.
This month on Clyde Built Radio, the new Sound Lab team introduced themselves, and presented a flavour of their different musical identities. Listen back here. On Radio Buena Vida, we also had our wonderful tutor Laurie perform an eclectic DJ set! If you missed it, check it out here!
